Pop guru and X Factor judge Simon Cowell best known for his caustic wit and cruel appraisals of would-be pop stars has been voted in as the perfect boss.
One in two Brits rated him the ideal manager in a poll undertaken by Trust Medical.
Former Glasgow Rangers player and chef Gordon Ramsey came a close second, followed by comedian Peter Kay, fictional boss David Brent and ‘I’m a celebrity winner’ Joe Pasquale.
Abe Elkinson, Director of Trust Medical commented: “To say we were surprised by the public’s choice is an understatement. Simon Cowell isn’t known for his sweet and gentle personality – in fact he’s made a career out of being sarcastic, rude and ridiculing people. So for him to come out top as the nation’s favourite boss is rather ironic.”
Elkinson concludes that Brits prefer a more aggressive management style than a ‘softly, softly approach’ but warns:
“A stressful working environment puts a lot of pressure on the heart and is actually worse for you than putting on 40lbs in weight or ageing 30 years.”
Thirteen million working days are lost each year to stress related problems – this equates to a loss of £3.7bn to the national economy.
A 1000 people were surveyed.
