Ian Harris is a Law graduate who joined the Manpower Services Commission (MSC) as an Executive Officer in July 1974 to work at one of the first of the new national network of Jobcentres, opened in King’s Lynn. He went on to manage the Harlow Group of 5 Jobcentres before transferring to the Department of Employment Headquarters in Westminster and subsequently to MSC and Employment Service (ES) Head Offices in Sheffield as a Senior and Principal Survey Officer; conducting staffing, work measurement, organisation and method and efficiency reviews throughout the Department of Employment Group.
He moved to Employment Service East Midlands & Eastern Regional Office, Nottingham in 1991 to become the Region’s Operations Manager and has since worked in a variety of senior regional roles as Head of Client Services, Regional Resources Manager and Head of Business Support Branch (including the Region’s Disability Services). He transferred to Lincoln in July 1997 as the Employment Service District Manager for Lincolnshire and now has charge of the County’s 13 Jobcentres- with the addition of Rutland (Oakham Jobcentre) from April 2000. Ian also chairs the New Deal Strategy Group and Joint Venture Partnership for Lincolnshire, which are responsible for the delivery of the Government’s main New Deals across the County and is a member of theLincolnshire & Rutland Learning Partnership.
He is a married man, whose wife is a registered nurse. He has three adult sons.
