The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has stated that a senior British Transport police officer, who had sexual intercourse while on duty, has brought the police service into “disrepute and ridicule”.
Reported by the Daily Telegraph, Inspector Masood Khan admitted one charge relating to a breach of the police code of conduct at a hearing in London today.
The charge he admitted today stated: “On 23 July 2006, whilst on duty and in uniform at Gatwick Airport and holding the rank of police inspector and duty officer for the London South area of the British Transport Police, you brought discredit upon the police service by having sexual intercourse with the complainant.”
According to the report, in August last year, a jury at Southwark Crown Court took less than 10 minutes to acquit Khan of wilful misconduct in a public office.
Khan said he accepted the woman performed a sex act on him and that they had full intercourse during that time.
According to the newspaper, during the trial, Khan told the jury: “It was absolutely the wrong thing to do, morally and professionally.”
At the time of the incident, Khan was the most senior officer on duty in charge of rail network across the south east, and was responsible for 20 officers.
