We have a member of staff on long term sick leave following operations for a back condition. Our occupational health doctor has advised that this person should now be considered as disabled under the DDA.
Following a recent home visit to discuss her possible return to work, she has indicated that she finds it impossible to drive to work at present and thinks it a reasonable adjustment that we should pay for a taxi instead (£50 a day). Our view is that getting to work is not our responsibility, especially as it is feasible to use public transport (although this would significantly lengthen her travel time).
I should like any views whether paying for a taxi could/should be a reasonable adjustment?
