We have an employee who has been off sick for the last 6 months. The prognosis from the GP is good but it could be another 6 months before they are back at work.

Our holiday year runs from Jan-Dec and the individual had not taken any leave before they had their accident. As it is now the end of September I am wondering how to handle their entitlement. I don’t want them to loose it but don’t want to carry it all over either.

Am I entitled to ask the employee to take their leave and if they don’t allocate them set dates?
