We are a very small company (5 employees) One of which was taken on on a part time temporary contract in Sept 05. Her contract was terminated Aug 2006 and then more work came in and we were able to re-employ her Oct 06 on the same temp basis.
We are now in a position where due to a delay in contract work being finalised all the FT staff are going to have to reduce their hours (hopefully short term measure) and we need to finish our part -time worker again. However, she has been off sick for the last 3 weeks ( genuine). I just want to make sure that I am not putting the company in any sort of difficult position if we lay her off whilst she is on sick leave. We would hope to re-employ her when circumstances change.
