Forgive me for remaining anonymous – I’m sure you will understand when you read this…it’s an interesting one!
A member of staff has been having an affair with a Director of the company. The Director confessed to their spouse and has since, separated.
The Director’s spouse is also a Director of the company although, never attends the workplace for any reason, not even Board Meetings.
Apparently, the spouse has been writing to the member of staff who had the affair with their other half, at home. The letters have apparently been quite insulting and possibly threatening.
The member of staff has not reported any of this and I am only aware because they confided in a friend who has mentioned it ‘off the record’.
The person in question is now apparently building a case for harrassment due to the fact the person sending the letters is a director of the company.
What is your opinion on the position of the company?
I feel that a successful case is unlikely because they have not formally advised us and therefore, asked us to help do anything to stop it. Essentially, the company is unaware it’s going on.
