We are trying to avoid keeping too much paper in the office and have recently scanned all of our HR documents into an online system. I wondered if anyone knew what the legal requirements were for HR document retention. I know that payroll documentation is 7 years, but what about other documents? The DPA suggests 12 months, but then what if you get asked for a reference from someone that worked for you 2 years ago for 5 years? Any ideas?
