Developing Employees on fixed term contracts!

I am a second year part time MBA student currently studying a HRM module. I am looking to research the area concerning the development of employees particularly in positions which are fixed term in length or where projects are fixed term funded.

Can anyone suggest any relevant literature or policies they adhere to?
