I was recently off work for 2 days leading up to the weekend as I had a heavy flu like cold. I duly informed my HR manager (my direct boss) that I was unable to attend work on the first morning, but that I hoped to be in the next day. When I wasn’t fit enough the next day I rang her again and because it was the payroll cut off informed her where my outstanding work was as I was worried about it not getting done. I was told not to worry about it and to get better. On Monday I went back to work still not 100% and full of cold. She called me into her office and told me that she was “disappointed that I had not even tried to come into work on Friday as all you had was a cold” and had I been to the doctors to get a sick note? Now we both knew that I didn’t need one as per company policy, I got upset (as you would do when you don’t feel well) and was upset for the rest of the day (still am) I worried about it all night and dreaded going into work the next day. Her attitude has really made me question whether I wish to continue employment with the company.

Has anyone any thoughts regarding the situation please? She regularly bully’s the others in our dept and we have had enough.

Thanks
Sarah
