We have recently altered our terms and conditions so that all new employees will now be subject to a six month probationary period (it was previously three months).
In line with this, I am now looking at pulling together some sort of scoring matrix when assessing whether an employee has successfully completed their probationary period. The aim of this is to ensure that all managers are consistent in their approach and all employees are treated fairly.
Does anyone else use such a system, as opposed to relying on a manager’s instinct for the majority of it, and if so, would they be prepared to give me an insight into this? At the moment, we look at the obvious areas such as attendance, timekeeping, performance and attitude, and would envisage that these are still included in any proposed new system.
Any advice much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Donna
