A member of staff is currently going through the initial stages of the adoption process, which we are anticipating could take anywhere from 1-2 years before they are placed with a child.

Although we have an adoption policy we are not clear how much paid time off to give the employee while they go through this training and selection process.

Our employee has informed us that they are at the stage in the process where they will receive regular visits from a social worker. The visits will last for several hours each and will recur fortnightly for around six months.

The employee has requested paid leave for these visits.

Does anyone have any experience of this and how much paid time off is reasonable to offer an employee in this situation?
