Following a managerial career spanning 20 plus years, and never having been subject to disciplinary action in any shape or form, I have recently been dismissed by my former employer after only six months employment, so no employment protection.

To cut a long story short, the team I was responsible for failed to complete a task in a timely manner. I had instructed a Team Leader to supervise the task, but it was deemed that as their manager it was my sole responsibility to ensure completion.

My query is this. In terms of applying for positions what chance do I have of being even considered for a role, given that I have been dismissed for alleged “gross misconduct” regardless of how convoluted and suspect the charges where?

I understand that this is the first thing that a prospective employer will consider and I have no desire to try and hide the facts, believing that honesty is the best policy at all times.
