We have an employee who has recently returned to work following ordinary maternity leave and has told us that she should have received normal salary for the bank holidays that fell during her leave period.
I don’t think she is entitled to this.
I know that holidays accrued under the WTD continue to accrue during the leave period but bank holidays don’t accrue – they occur on that day and if you work you get paid and if you don’t work you have a paid day off.
Am I right to not pay her?
