I have made an offer of employment to a candidate. She advised me during interview that her current salary was £35k for part time work. I therefore made her an offer of £38k – she has since contacted me to say that she had in fact overstated her salary at her previous employer by mistake and her actual salary was £29k. Am I entitled to change her offer of employment to reflect a lower salary. She is still with her employer working her notice period so has not yet commenced employment with me – she has however accepted original contract terms. Anyone come across this before?
