Having returned to work after a brief period of hospitalisation, I find that my role, which was sales manager (team leading) has been changed to head of sales (non team leading). My team have been approached and told they will not be reporting into me. My remit has been changed dramatically.

Can my employers do this without discussion with myself ? Does this nullify my contract of employment ? Should I be in receipt of a new job spec ?

Really appreciate any help or assistance here as I am in a state of flux whilst trying to understand my position.
