I have been today threatened at work by an employees husband (also an employee) following the suspension of one of his family memebers who also works for the company.
The threat happened in front of another manager who stepped in between us, and was vocal enough to be heard in the next office and very intimidating in nature, I was left close to tears and shaking like a leaf, and believe me I’m no lightweight when it comes to intimidating situations!
However when the incident was discussed with the MD, I said I wasn’t happy about it and wanted to raise a grievance I was told ‘but your ok’ ‘why muddy the waters’!
Now I can appreciate that I 1. am ok, just a little intimidated and 2. it might look like tit for tat in light of the current GM matter, however I would have expected some form of follow up, even if it’s put aside to deal with after the GM, however there is a distinct unwillingness to discuss the matter any further!
As another (but important!) note the threat culminates a period of 6 months where this employee has directed other instances of intimidation and bullying at me, and previously i’ve been talked out of raising a grievance! Even though I now have to have a mental health assessment for self harm as a result of this persons behaviour!!
Guys, what’s your views, part of me wants to cut my losses and just go and part of me still has a fair amount of fight left in me to see where I can highlight that this persons behaviour is wrong.
