An employee has just returned following a long period of stress-related sick absence; Occupation Health report states stress caused by dealing with customers on the telephone – the employee takes incoming telephone enquiries from residential customers.
The only other job at this grade is a role taking incoming telephone enquiries from industrial customers.
The employee has asked to transfer (under existing transfer procedure) to role taking industrial enquiries.
My concern is the stress will continue and employee/performance will continue to suffer.
Can transfer request be refused on stress grounds, or is a trial period as far as can go? Any other suggestions?
