Hello!

A friend of mine has been off work for 7 weeks due to a serious illness that resulted in quite a major operation. For the last 3 weeks she has been on holiday in Turkey while claiming full sick pay. She is just in the process of returning to work on reduced hours and is gettinmg quite a few remarks on her suntan and her ‘free’ holiday. I hasten to say that none of these has been by HR, but she is beginning to worry that someone may complain officially. There doesn’t appear to be anything procedure-wise stopping this, and as far as she is concerned she had been signed off sick and was recuperating as she saw fit. Has she done anything wrong that she could be penalised for?
