We have a flexi-time system where staff have been able to opt for time off (or payment in lieu) for accumulated time, and this has been working well for a few years.
We now have a couple of employees that have accumulated guite a lot of time, due to major projects and work load. We generally don’t have a problem with this but we don’t have any capping mechanism for time carried forward other than a general requirement to work an average of 37.5 hours a week over a four week period.
As it stands, the system could potentially leave us with a large payment in lieu bill, or employees unable to take their accumulated time off. We’d like to prevent a major problem in the future.
We’d like to look at what other firms do in this area before finalising any ideas. If anyone can help with how much time they allow employees to carry forward and take off when accumulating flexi-time, I’d be very grateful.
Many thanks
