Hello all!
I have been thinking of ways to implement an option for our longer serving employees to take a "career break". Elsewhere in the company career breaks have been given on a case by case basis for valid reasons such as stress or family related issues but there is no "official line".
My concern is that if we offer them to anyone in our division for any reason, there would be lots of other people wondering whether they could do it too – and if not, why not?
In my opinion, what I would like to do is make this in to a structured system with clear criteria, written in to the company handbook and touted as a perk for joining our company. Currently there are no real rewards for long service.
So, my question is – do any of you guys have a similar system?
What rules do you put in place?
Is it paid leave?
Etc. etc.
Any thoughts would be welcome!
Charles
