Our company has always had 2 CCTV cameras monitoring the outside of our building. In the past week, the system has been upgraded to include more cameras, and crucially, better methods of monitoring the pictures.
The facilities manager has access at anytime to the pictures being recorded, and the streaming is captured and recorded in a room in the IT department, accessible only by the IT Team.
My question / query is – is there any legislation we should be taking into account regarding the use of CCTV pictures. I’m sure at least one member of staff (if not more!) will say we are infringing their freedom by monitoring their movements. However, the cameras are all placed externally and are designed to monitor our car park and building only.
Any tips or words of caution for me?
