My organisation is not large enough to support a full time Occupational Health Department/Company Doctor. However, there is a growing need to be able to assess an employees fitness for work.

I have trawled the net etc. for a facility to procure this service on either an ad hoc basis or on a monthly basis where we could make appointments for employees who we might have concerns about, ie stress, back problems, short term illness.

We are not medical practitioners and are increasingly being required to make decisions based on policy vs capability without the tools.

Has anyone any experience of where I might look for local (but not too local so they are not the employees own doctors etc) to secure this type of service. The other restriction I have is also on cost. There are many consultancies out in the market place who charge a fortune – I just want an occupational doctor/nurse on a random basis at a reasonable cost.

Any help would be much appreciated.
