My organisation allows up to 5 days compassionate leave. We give flexibility to the line manager in how many days are granted, although managers often refer requests back to HR.

Does anyone have any specific criteria they apply when deciding how many days of compassionate leave they authorise? Although a flexible system has its merits, it does lead to some inconsistency of application across the organisation.
