Dear all
This isn’t an employment law question, but as many of us here seem to be smaller companies, I thought I’d ask some advice. Just over a year ago, we signed up to a company called marketsafe UK to gather data for new business mailings. Our approach is not mass mailing: it’s done using personal follow up calls. We asked for HR directors to contact.
The data we had was very poor; out of date contacts, wrong phone numbers, even wrong addresses. When we complained, they told us they didn’t guarantee the data. I told them I was unhappy, dissatisfied and wouldn’t be using them again. In fact, we haven’t accessed their data since June last year.
In March this year, I was contacted for an early renewal for a discount; I refused and had an email to confirm Id refused it. The email said I should tell them we didn’t want to renew. I thought I had made it fairly clear we wouldnt renew.
Now they’re chasing me for an invoice, as the contract, they tell me was “rolling” and I had to write a letter.
Can anyone tell me – can they do this? I thought I’d made it very clear we didn’t want their service!
