A new supervisor 6 weeks ago was moved to our site and there was a note left from him in the staff note book to remove all personal belongings from the top of the counter or it would all be thrown in the bin. I had a small radio cd player(that everyone used) with a small box of cd’s (again which everyone shared) also 2 small soft toys which customers children loved to play with. I removed all these objects as requested, but 3 weeks later a colleague was allowed to bring in a radio, which is now left on top of the counter. Would that be classed as discrimination or preferential treatment or what?
Also, the new supervisor on his 1st day removed the 6 week rota, which we had been running for 18 months and were all happy with, and replaced it with a 2 week rota. I was not consulted about this change and tried to speak with him to explain that I was happy enough to work any shift apart from weds backshift and sunday dayshift, as I am founder member of a kids sports club for disadvantaged kids and had to be at their training at these 2 times as there was nobody else to do it. He responded by saying he couldn’t guarantee these 2 shifts every week and if i wasn’t happy I know where the door was, on same day he told a colleague that he could have every weds, thurs and friday off to work a 2nd job. I am now in a position where I have had to close the kids club as there was nobody else to train them.
Am i being unfairly treated? I would appreciate your views please.
