We have an employee that is about to leave the company. He is contractually due to give 1 months notice but has told us he is only prepared to give one week’s notice as per the Employement Protection Act.

As he has signed the contract agreeing to a month’s notice is there anything we can do to stop him leaving (not such a good idea) or recouping cost incurred by the company in replacing him at short notice?
