I am currently reviewing our reference policy in our organisation and would appreciate any help/guidance from those of you who work in a similar sector.

As far as I am aware any reference we should provide is to include a statement on a member of staff’s suitability to work with children as well as the reason for leaving. Would anyone else agree with this as I am having problems where managers giving subjective ratings on performance which are continuously challenged by ex-staff.

I therefore want to move to a more standardised reference format so that we don’t get into these grey areas.

Any advice would be appreciated.
