It has come to my attention that my company seems to be ‘diddling’ people. Currently, a team of Customer Srfvice assistants based here in the uk come in at a starting salary of 19k. For example, someone started last week on 19k, based in our uk office. We recently recruited two people who after a three month training period here, will be working in their home country of Australia, doing exactly the same job, exactly the same hours, exactly the same responsibilities as the guy who recently started and is also training. They are being paid 15k. My co has told them that this is because the ‘market rate’ in Australia is different – I feel this is poppycock! The company is registered in the UK, they are working under the same contract yet being paid considerably less. Does anyone have any advice re where they stand for fighting for equal pay – not an area of my expertise I am afraid!
