We have a group of staff, who year on year – if they want to – can return to undertake temporary duties. The work required of them is administrative and very often only for a period of 8 weeks or so. Within the pay grading system – employees after 1 years continuous service moved up the pay scale to the next increment. Due to these staff only ever working a few weeks per year – they always return on the same minimum rate of pay – they have recently challenged this? Can anyobne advise???
