We are about to employ a new member of staff and the manager in question is keen to make sure that this new employee has no health issues that may be a problem in carrying out the role (eg. a previous member of staff was unable to fly for health reasons when travel was essential for the role, but this only came to light when the requirement to fly arose).
Can anyone advise me on how much we are allowed to ask an employee about their health, and does anyone have a questionnaire that they would be willing to share with me. Also, are we entitled to ask the new employee to undergo a medical before starting? I am aware that we would have to take great care that none of our actions could be considered discriminatory.
Thanks
