Hi
I have a member of staff who is long serving who became ill about 3 years ago. She is covered by the DDA. She is still able to work but has been having a lot of sick time lately, some related to her illness, some not. In the last 12 months she has had upwards of 140 days off.
We have adjusted her contract down by a day, ensures she does not work 2 consecutive shifts, she can have treatment at work in work time etc etc. We are already wokring outside our absence policy on this one so reasonable adjustments re the DDA have been made.
The time off sick is disruptive now to the point we are finding it quite difficult to cope. Occuaptional Health are in the mix but are saying this is a decision for management at this stage.
I would like to find a solution that enables this staff member to contribute still but does not leave the line manager with huge gaps to fill due to sickness. Can anyone think of anyting else other than our latest suggestion which is to drop her contracted hours further & allow her to top her work up with casual shifits when she is feeling fit?
Thanks
