How do you communicate with remote workers?

I am currently running a benchmarking exercise on internal communications and looking to ascertain how other organisations communicate with those employees, which are field based.

It would be appreciated if you could get back to me with how you communicate with remote workers and the level of success you have with your methods if measured.
