We set up a goal related bonus of £750 each for achieving certain individual goals. Having just assessed the goals- we find that many were difficult to measure and while some people have acheived their goals, some have not achieved them partly due to being overworked.

My boss who set these limits is ill and won’t be able to deal with them and I am trying to work it out with another boss who has suggested just giving everybody 60% of the bonus as a morale booster.

What do you think of this idea? D’you think its acceptable/legal/advisable?
