I work in the HR department of an organisation with sites all over the UK. We also have one site in Jersey and recent changes to employment law there means that bank holidays have to be recognised (where they don’t in mainland UK). Our annual leave entitlement is 20-25 days (depending on the type of role) plus standard bank holidays. In the UK this means 8 days but in Jersey it is 9 (because they have an extra one – Liberation day).

I am concerned that we are not seen to be discriminating against anyone by giving an extra day off to staff in Jersey. It’s a statutory requirement so I think we should be fine but I don’t want to make a decision which could get us in hot water later down the line. Does anyone have any thoughts?
