One of our production supervisors recently went into hospital with back pains; 3 hours later we were told she was in labour; 10 hours later she had a bouncing baby boy. Neither us nor her had absolutely any knowledge that she was pregnant.
I think I know the answer to this, but just checking – I assume she is still entitled to all the rights of maternity leave and pay, even though she didn’t officially notify us (how could she if she didn’t know)? Someone has raised the question and before I go and offer my congratulations and talk her through the maternity stuff, I want to make sure I’m right.
