Medical Renewals for Drivers

I would be grateful if someone has any experience of this if they could let me know.

Some of our Class 1 drivers need to have their medicals to obtain renewal licences.

Are we responsible/legally obliged for the payment of these medicals or is it up to an individual to pay for the medical?
