I spent almost a year to pass all my tests to go into police force for which I have been trying to get in for seven years now. At medical stage I was told my hearing level was low on my high tones but the doctor did say on the day if I was 20 and not 48 years old he would not accept it. Three weeks later I received a letter from the doctor saying I have not met the entry level for a police officer as I have high tone loss in both ears but the letter goes on to say on another note I doubt with your dyslexia you will be able to cope with the role of an officer & goes on in depth of examples where my dyslexia will let me down performing the role as a officer the letter also says If I choose I can have my G.P. Refer me to an E.N.T. surgeon as a way forward. I have attended an E.N.T. surgeon and was told my hearing level is normal for my age group as it is common to lose high tones from 40 onwards however I have gone back to the police and their response is the doctor wont back down as he over rules any doctor in the country. Is there any hope for me ?
