Prompted by the last FTC question and answers, I work in a GP surgery and have the following question.
We need to fill a vacant post of 24 hours, probably working over 3 days. The feeling is that with the current financial uncertainty and under investment in GP surgeries i.e. 1,700 practices closing and being replaced with Darzi Polyclinics, should we and can we, offer 12-month FTC to all new employees. Aware of the 4 year ruling, is there any advantage in doing so i.e. no redundancy payments if we had to make staff redundant, ?easier to end employment. We currently have 95% of our employees on “permanent” contracts. General guidance and comment would be very much appreciated on the sense in going down this route or not! Len
