A chap I know has been notified that the company he is with were making redundancies, this has happended to his department three times in the last ten years and he has to date not been selected, latest redundancy names were due to be announced next week, but already the people selected have gone, he is over 50 with 30 years service and the first time when redundancy was mentioned, he was devastated and then relieved not to be selected, however, after the second occasion he has come to terms with the fact there are other jobs/opportunities out there, so applied for redundancy, he was not selected, now he was been told 2 weeks ago there are more redundancies and there has been no consultation as to why he has not been selected or what the critera was, although all the other staff have less service. They have now gone on redundancy.
although he doesnt work for me, he has asked me for guidance and I have no answer for him as to his rights – any advice
