As an employer we have to honour an employees notice period in full as per the employee contract, but what if an employee leaves before they have worked their full notice period? As an employer we only have to pay the employee for the time worked, but other than that is there any other recource to protect the business? The main reason companies implement longer notice periods for key staff (3-6 months) is to minimise the risk to the business, but what stops them for walking out at the drop of a hat? Any clever plans or suggestions?
