Hi, I have a problem I would like a little input on. Here is the scenario:
I have a team member who has been in the team for 18 months. Steady, strong performer. Meets and exceeds targets. Also acts as a point of reference for rest of team in my absence. All in all, I find him very reliable.

In the last couple of weeks, I have noticed he is not himself – his dress code leaves a lot to be desired. I have already tackled the issue on lateness – he has promised this will not happen again. having said this, his standard of work is still high. I would say that he seems a little pre-occupied though, and my line manager has also noticed, and remarked, upon his appearance.

I would like some advice on how to approach this situation, what kind of strategy should I employ? I was thinking an informal chat, any particular questions?
