Hi. I work in a UK university, which has just merged with another university. I was up for promotion from lecturer to senior lecturer, but that has been turned down. Yet I feel strongly that there are others who have no better qualifications and who do no more teaching etc. than me who were promoted from lecturers to senior lecturers just before the merger. There is no restriction on how many people the University can make senior lecturerships – it should be based solely on merit. So is this something I can contest through law? – if I am as well qualified as someone else on a higher grade and am doing the same job as them, should I not be entitled to the same status as them? Many thanks, Bruce
