We have an employee who has had ongoing back problems for some years now. We have remained supportive over the years (he works 50% from home to ease the strain, we have paid for additional private medical cover etc) and will continue to do so but I’d appreciate your thoughts on the following..He’s now requested an Orthopaedic chair which he is quoting as costing £600. We are a small business so naturally this is quite a lot of money for us – are we 100% liable for the total amount or could we agree to pay 2/3 of the cost and he contribute the final 1/3? Furthermore we’re also concerened he may leave so could we ask to be re-imbursed were he to leave over the course of say 12 months. Are there any grants available for small organisations like ours?
I know in larger comapnies I’ve worked in we’ve automatically approved such requests but just wondered where we stand as a smaller company.
