We have recently sent out a personal data check exercise, including asking employees to notify if they consider themselves to have a disability.

There is currently a debate about what information should be stored on our computerised HR system relating to disability, and whether or not the nature of the disability should be categorised for reporting purposes. Due to the scope of the Act, and in an attempt not to label people, this could be seen as insensitive. However with the growing need of management information, it is argued that we need this information.

How are other companies tackling this sensitive issue?
