An employee wishes to resign so that he can relocate to be nearer to his father who has just been diagnosed with cancer of the throat, lungs and liver. His contractual notice period is 3 months, yet he wishes to work just two weeks as he has been offered an interim position that would require an almost immediate start.

He cannot relocate without securing a position first as he has a young family to support, so he feels that this is an ideal solution.

Has anyone dealt with this kind of situation before?

Many thanks,
