We are part of a large group incorporating many separate businesses across the UK. We have been contacted by a member of staff from another part of the group who has been made redundant. He is very interested in coming to work for us and we would like to employ him. My question is does this constitute ‘alternative employment’which means he would not be entitled to his redundancy payment? Or does the fact that we are a separate business, albeit within the group, mean that it is simply a ‘new job’?I have been unable to find a clear answer to this so your comments would be welcome
