Due to recent Network Rail announcements about taking railway maintenance business back, the railway maintenance company that I work for is likely to have to make big redundancies next year.
I am due to start maternity leave this December and this would run through until July ’04. I have 26 months continuous service with the company so far and would have completed 35 months continuous service with the company by the time my maternity leave ends in July ’04.
Can anyone tell me if I can be made redundant before I return to work next July, or am I protected until then at least? Also, would there be a compulsory three month consultation period, starting from July?
