I am revamping my short term absence policies for 2007, allowing for more trigger points for action as well as involving Managers of all levels at various points in this process, utilising Occuapational Health teams more and instilling confidence to discipline on this basis if the circumstances are approprite.
We have been in long debate about those staff, 18%, who have turned up every day they were required & achieved 100% attendance last year. Do we reward them or not? Is this just what is expected from the employee or should we be seeking to single out those few for some sort of recognition.
Does any one else have experience of rewarding attendance in this way? Do financial rewards really work long term? All views much appreciated.
