An employee has been in post for 4 months. The post is one dedicated to a particular client contract. It has since transpired that in the employer’s contract with the client, this post has not been budgeted for.
Worst case scenario (if the employee cannot be redeployed elsewhere in the business) is that the employee will be made redundant.
Does the employee have any other rights over redundancy pay as long as stat procedures have been followed? It has been suggested that as the employer has employed this person knowing that there is no budget, there may be scope for further claim from the employee.
Please advise.
Thanks
